About
The Center for Clinical Innovations and Wellness is a therapy practice in Southern California owned by Stephanie Machado-Jenkins. Her clinic emphasizes the use of art and creativity in the therapies they use with their clients, and she wanted a logo and supporting visual brand identity that would convey the expressive nature of their focus. The result for the practice is a full roster of private pay clients.

Creative Brief
Stephanie’s main goal was to convey an image that blended a high degree of professionalism with a down to earth and welcoming accessibility. She felt strongly connected to the symbolism of the lotus, a flower that blooms from a very swampy, muddy place, is a powerful metaphor for the transformation that can be found through exploring and working on our mental health. She also knew that she felt drawn to a color pallet that was light and airy vs. bold and overwhelming.
Stephanie sent me some snapshots of lotus themed decor from her offices, and right away, I was able to key in on her tastes, and pick up some elements I could use as a starting point to develop her logo.
Shapes
The impressionistic, modern feel of the artwork she shared, and the watercolor texture were the two main elements I keyed in on. I found some elements on Creative market that I felt would lend themselves to this project and I went to work, experimenting with color and form.
The first set of designs hit the mark in a lot of ways, but the color palette was a bit drab, and it needed more artistic flair.
I changed up the petals of the lotus blossom to use some watercolor textures to make it feel more painterly, and shifted the color palette to be a bit more beachy.
